SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to lead and direct all aspects of ethanol production under the direction of the Plant Manager. The Process Manager will establish effective communication and support as it relates to the production of alcohol and distiller grains. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of Amber Wave.

PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Works shift as assigned. Works overtime as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the absence of this role or any incumbent, the immediate supervisor/manager identified in the organization chart assumes responsibility for all duties and delegation of authority.

  • Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit-ready condition.
  • Provide training to subordinate or new employees to improve biofuels plant safety or increase the production of biofuels.
  • Provide direction to employees to ensure compliance with biofuels plant safety, environmental, or operational standards and regulations.
  • Monitor transportation and storage of flammable or other potentially dangerous feedstocks or products to ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Confer with technical and supervisory personnel to report or resolve conditions affecting biofuels plant safety, operational efficiency, and product quality.
  • Manage production employees in the manufacturing of biofuels and distiller grains.
  • Shut down and restart biofuels plant or equipment in emergency situations or for equipment maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
  • Maintain inventory and reordering of biofuel production inputs such as enzymes, yeast, caustic, etc.
  • Review logs, datasheets, or reports to ensure adequate production levels or to identify abnormalities with biofuels production equipment or processes.
  • Monitor meters, flow gauges, or other real-time data to ensure proper operation of biofuels production equipment, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Adjust temperature, pressure, vacuum, level, flow rate, or transfer of biofuels to maintain processes at required levels.
  • Supporting other activities and projects as assigned or dictated by business needs.

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position will Manage all Ethanol Production Staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Supervision or leadership experience in Ethanol production or other related manufacturing field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate Microsoft Office software, Internet, Intranet, and other computer software to complete essential duties and responsibilities.
  • Must possess excellent leadership skills.
  • Must have solid communication skills and be able to interact at all levels.
  • Must possess the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans. Ability to write, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must use solid judgment when making decisions. Must have the ability to quickly recognize and plan for changing work duties and events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to perform maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including moving equipment and machinery, hot/humid, and cold conditions; the employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment requires the use of hearing protection. Involves exposure to wheat allergens.
